Pride Vikings victory over champions!

Pembrokeshire League Division One HAKIN UNITED 3 MONKTON SWIFTS 0 TWO second-half Paul Jones penalties and a well-executed Daniel Lincoln strike gave Hakin victory over newly-crowned champions Monkton Swifts.

The Swifts won their second successive league title with a comfortable 4-1 victory at Carew in midweek.

Top notch striker Stephen Davies grabbed a sublime hat-trick and Lee Jones struck with a scorching 25 yarder which deservedly handed Swifts manager Benno Jones the coveted silverware.

However, Saturday's encounter was all down to a matter of pride. Having already beaten the champions twice Paul Bowen's Vikings were delighted to make it three wins on the trot.

All the goals came in the second period after a very tight opening 45 minutes.

Swifts defender Daniel Hart was spotted by referee Steve Williams handling the ball in his own box. Deadly striker Jonah stepped up to make no mistake from the resulting penalty spot.

Ten minutes later and the Vikings went two goals up. Steve Mathias and Jonah combined to release Daniel Lincoln, who wasted very little time in drilling his stinging shot into the bottom corner.

With just two minutes of time remaining, Swifts goalkeeper Craig Rearden deliberately took out Jonah just inside the 18 yard box.

Jonah dusted himself off before coolly dispatching from 12 yards to conclude the scoring.

This is the first time in a long while that Hakin are trophy-less come the end of a season.
