Bank boosts Adam's appeal

The Bucketful of Hope Appeal has been given a major boost thanks to a £5,000 donation from Barclays.

The appeal was established by the late Adam Evans-Thomas.

Pembrokeshire-born Adam was diagnosed with chronic myloid leukaemia at the age of 24 and sadly died ten years later before a bone marrow match could be found.

The appeal aims to raise £250,000 to extend facilities at Withybush Hospital and raise the profile of the Welsh Bone Marrow Registry.

The £5,000 will be used to fund an educational project to raise awareness and educate children on the importance of bone marrow donation across all schools in Pembrokeshire.

The funds come from the bank's Community Investment Programme, which in 2004 donated £32 million, or one per cent of UK pre-tax profits.
