Luke forces big Town win

County cricket Division 2: Haverfordwest 2nds (210 for 6) beat Saundersfoot (120 all out)

Former Welsh International pace bowler Colin Williams showed that he is no mug with the bat with a brilliant 98 for Haverfordwest 2nds.

The Town stiffs recorded their first win of the season against Saundersfoot.

Paul Luke came into the action for the first time in the season with a supporting knock of 30 runs before claiming seven wickets to reduce Saundersfoot to 120 all out.

Richard James (25) helped Williams add 60 for the second wicket and Luke was followed by Steve James (17 not out) in helping Haverfordwest move smoothly past the 200 mark.

Williams struck ten boundaries and three big sixes en route to his 98, but was caught by Kevin Sykes off Paul Mansbridge in the final over.

Mansbridge then showed he is still one of the best batsmen in the section with six fours in his 51 as part of an 86-run second wicket stand with Steve Cook (26) after promising young pace man Jonathan Morgan had shifted Danny Caine for a duck.

But then Luke struck. Roger Stanford got himself run out without scoring and Williams played his part by removing Dickie Parcell.

Luke removed both danger man Mansbridge, well caught by Micky Phillips, and Cook before rolling over the rest of the Seasiders' batting in short time.

Only Danny Brace managed double figures and Luke finished with impressive figures of 7 for 21 in 11.4 overs to help Town grab 30 points.
