Longboat launch honours Bill

A LONGBOAT has been named in honour of the late founder member of the Fishguard Rowing Club, Bill Fowler.

Mr Fowler died on Boxing Day 2002 and the club has named the new boat Cwch Bill.

Jemima Nicholas (Yvonne Fox) and her army of traditionally-dressed Welsh women led a small parade to the yacht club in Fishguard Lower Town for the naming ceremony.

Mr Fowler was a popular and active member of the community. In addition to being a keen rower, he was also chairman of the Historical Society and Last Invasion committee.

He was head of history, year head and careers advisor at Fishguard High School.
