The Pembrokeshire branch of the Farmers' Union of Wales has launched a new Countryside Award to recognise the hard work of younger farmers in the county.
The award will be presented at this year's Pembrokeshire County Show to an individual 40 years of age or under, who has shown determination and dedication to the agricultural industry in Pembrokeshire.
New county chairman, Wyn Jones said: "It is important that we recognise the hard work and dedication of young people within our industry. In presenting this award we hope that we can highlight their achievements.
"As the FUW celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, we felt that the presentation of this award would be a fitting way to mark the occasion and show support to the younger generation of farmers in the county who are the future of the industry," he added.
To be eligible for the award, the nominee must be 40 years of age or under on January 1st, 2005; they must be actively involved in agricultural production or land management and normally resident within Pembrokeshire.
A cash prize and perpetual trophy will be awarded.
l Further details about the competition and nomination forms can be obtained by telephoning the Pembrokeshire FUW office on 01437 762913.
All nominations must be submitted by Friday, July 15th.
