Bucketful of stamina

Pembrokeshire Triathlon club member Julia Hill is competing in the Fishguard Triathlon on June 25th in memory of her friend Adam Evans-Thomas.

Julia is entering one of the most gruelling races - a half distance triathlon - to help raise funds for the Bucketful of Hope Appeal, which is gaining tremendous momentum in Pembrokeshire.

The fundraising undertaken by club members like Julia is moving towards the big festival day in Carew Pavilion and Showground on Saturday July 16th, where it is hoped that the realisation of Adam's wish to create a state of the art cancer care day unit for Withybush Hospital and a record attempt at doubling the bone marrow donor registry will reach fruition.

Adam was a keen triathlete and member of the Pembrokeshire Triathlon Club and rarely missed training during his 10-year battle with leukaemia. Julia said: "Adam was a true inspiration, he is dearly missed by all at the club."

The race consists of a 2km swim followed by a 75 km cycle ride and finally a 20 km run. Anybody wishing to sponsor Julia can contact her on 079669 40974.

The race is organised by Multisport, who are running the Welsh Sprint triathlon on the same day.

This year's Dale Half Marathon, which raised £2,000 for the appeal last year, will be held on September 25th.

Anyone wishing to take part in this run can contact Pembrokeshire Triathlon Club member David Astins on 07766 911069 for an entry form.
