Fears that Pembrokeshire is missing the boat on possible grant aid links with Ireland have spurred local officials to try and get involved in INTERREG discussions going on between North Wales Water Sports and the Irish Federation of Marine Industries.
Economic development officer, Kefin Wakefield, told the county council economy overview and scrutiny committee on Thursday that he had voiced concern that south west Wales should be part of the discussions and the strategy.
He said that agreement in principle had been reached for partnership with Waterford County Council to develop an INTERREG application parallel with the north Wales initiative.
"We have asked for resources to assist us with a programme of work over 13 months and a report is due out at the back end of next year," he said.
