SpongeBob joins in and soaks up the festival fever

Overcast and rainy weather failed to put a dampner on another bumper Narberth Civic Week.

With dozens of events for all age-groups - ranging from circus skills to coffee mornings - residents and visitors were spoilt for choice.

And Satur-day's lively carnival proved a highly-successful end to the week, with the parade's colourful modern-day characters, including SpongeBob SquarePants, Crazy Frog and the Flintstones mingling happily with nostalgic figures from the Second World War.

Around 20 different vehicles and the Dyfed Army Cadet Force Drums joined in the procession, which made two circuits of the packed town before heading for the Town Moor for judging.

Town mayor, Councillor David Norcross, was one of the Civic Week's best customers - and enjoyed every minute.

"There's been so much going on, I must have attended five events every day," he said. "It's been an absolutely fantastic week, and that is due to a year's hard work by the Civic Week committee."

And the mayor also praised the townspeople of Narberth for their keenness to take part in all the fun. "Considering the size of Narberth, the turnout has been brilliant, and everyone has brought along a smile."
