Panthers reach final

Girls from the Pembrokeshire FAW football-coaching centre took part in the prestigious Ian Rush festival, held at Aberystwyth.

Under the name of Pembrokeshire Panthers this group of under 13 girls drawn from all around the county, did Pembrokeshire proud once again. Winning six games out of six they qualified for the final in great style, catching the eye of many good judges, including the Welsh selectors who where attending with their squads.

The final proved to be a hurdle too much for this predominately very young squad, playing against bigger and stronger girls from Scottish team Cumbernauld, and losing eventually 6-3 after a titanic struggle. Parents and families of the girls played their part in providing wonderful support throughout, making the job of coaches Emma Rowell and Gerry Rigby, easy.

The coaching centre will start again in late September, and membership will in general be by invitation. However if any girls in the age group 1995 to 1989 feel that they have the necessary application, please contact Gerry Rigby at County Hall on 01437 776379.
