Protesters to appeal against LNG ruling

INDIVIDUAL members of the protest group Safe Haven are to go to the Court of Appeal in their fight for a judicial review into the LNG planning consents.

Safe Haven spokesman Gordon Main said: "It is high time this issue is dealt with properly, openly and at the highest level."

The application for a judicial review into the consents for the South Hook and Dragon LNG terminals was dismissed last week.

Costs, yet to be assessed, were awarded to Pembrokeshire County Council and the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority by Mr Justice Sullivan in the High Court in London.

Meanwhile, Arnold Schwarzenegger has entered the LNG debate. Gordon Main said: "Even the Terminator prefers his LNG offshore." He was referring to comments made by the California governor about proposed LNG terminals in Ventura County.

The actor-turned-politician is supporting the off-shore option, as he believes it is the safest. But he stresses his support does not indicate that the more populated locations are dangerous. "I think the key thing is public safety on all of this," he said.
