MR C. J. EVANS CRUNDALE Mr Colin Jeffery Evans, of 33 St Leonard's Avenue, Crundale, died on June 30th at Withybush Hospital, after a one week stay on ward ten. He was 70. Mr Evans was a native of Prendergast, Haverfordwest, and worked as a motor fitter with Pembrokeshire County Council. His main interests were his garden and family. Predeceased by his wife 18 months ago, family left to mourn are: Alan and Rosemary, David and Gill (sons and daughters-in-law); Heather (daughter). The funeral took place on July 14th, at Parc Gwyn Crematorium and was conducted by Rev Martyn Evans. There were family flowers only. Principal mourners were: Alan and Rosemary, David and Gill (sons and daughters-in-law); Heather (daughter); Apryl, Paul, Lisa, Nathan and Matthew (grandchildren); Desmond and Olive Davies, Doreen Nash and Joyce Davies. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Roy Folland and Son, Haverfordwest.

Mr L. S. Mallard Kent (Formerly of Hayscastle) MR L. S. Mallard, of Kent, formerly of Hayscastle and latterly of Haverfordwest, died in Maidstone Hospital on July 27th, one day after his 81st birthday. Len leaves to mourn: Margaret (wife); Brian and Mary (son and daughter in law); Roger (son); Linda and Claire (granddaughters).

MRS I. D. DAVIES NEYLAND The death occurred on July 17th, at Torestin Nursing Home, Tiers Cross, of Mrs Ida Dorothy Davies, of 45 James Street, Neyland, aged 79. Mrs Davies was born in Whitton, Middlesex and worked in the coal business at Davies and Clark for many years. She also worked at the Railway Cafe at Neyland Marina and for Fred Rees. Her hobbies included reading and WRVS. Predeceased by her husband Ronald and son Terry, family left to mourn are: Barry and Maralynne, Graham and Sheila (sons and daughters-in-law); Ryan, Gareth, Martin and Paul (grandsons); Paula and Carly (Paul's partner and her daughter); Joan and Cyril (step sister and husband); Jack (step brother); Rene (sister-in-law); Tony and Kay (nephew and niece). The funeral took place on Thursday, July 21st, at the family home, followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn, Narberth, and was conducted by Rev Martyn Evans. Principal mourners were: Barry and Maralynne, Graham and Sheila (sons and daughters-in-law); Ryan, Gareth, Martin and Paul (grandsons); Paula and Carly (Paul's partner and her daughter); Joan and Cyril (step sister and husband); Jack (step brother); Rene (sister-in-law); Tony and Kay (nephew and niece). The funeral arrangements were carried out by Tom Newing and Sons, Hamilton Court Funeral Home, Dartmouth Street, Milford Haven.

MR J. E. JOHN HERBRANDSTON The death occurred at his home on Friday, July 22nd, of Mr James Ernest (Ernie) John, of Rose Cottage, Herbrandston. He leaves to mourn: Ruth (wife); David and Jenny (son and daughter-in-law); Sylvia and Tony (daughter and son-in-law); Matthew, Robert, Andrew and Catherine (grandchildren). The funeral service and interment took place on July 28th at St Mary's Church, Herbrandston. Rev Sian Wight officiated. There were family flowers only, donations for the Royal Marsden Hospital to Mrs Sylvia Davey, Milner Cottage, Herbrandston, Milford Haven. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Tom Newing and Sons, Hamilton Court Funeral Home, Dartmouth Street, Milford Haven.

Mr P. B. P. George Hayscastle the death occurred on Monday, July 4th, of Mr Philip Barnard Price George, of Castle Hill Farm, Hayscastle, Haverfordwest. Aged 50, the deceased was the only son of the late Philip and Joyce George and leaves to mourn his sister and brother-in-law, Zoe and William Harries. Barnard, as he was known, was widely recognised as an outstanding farmer and stockman. His farm and the friesian dairy herd which it carried was his abiding passion and his pride and joy. The funeral services were held at Camrose Baptist Chapel and at Parc Gwyn Crematorium on July 11th. The service in the Chapel was conducted by Rev Aled Jenkins, a close family friend, who was assisted by Revs Tom Michael, Roy Parker, Mark Rowlands, John Roberts, Hywel Brown and Huw George. Revs Gwyn Rogers, Arwyn Thomas and Martyn Evans were unable to be present. Rev Jenkins paid tribute to the loss of a young life, a quiet and kind person who will be remembered with affection. The organist was Mrs Rosemary Rees. The bearers were Dilwyn Phillips, Peter Evans, Randall Evans and Derek Jenkins - close friends of the family. The principal mourners were: Zoe and William Harries (sister and brother-in-law); Daniel, Thomas and Matthew (nephews); Ann and Ian, Michael and Amanda, Nicola and Mark, Anthea and Clive, Eirwen and Alf, Margaret and Roblin, Beryl, Roy and David, Margaret and Eurig, Glenys, David, Barbara and Lindell, Josiah and Stephanie, Marion, Carol, Lillian and David, Margaret and Clive, Fiona and Gary, Dorothy and Vernon, Elizabeth, Margaret and Sheila, Jamie, Nicola and Melinda (cousins), Raymond and Margaret Harries (sister-in-law) and numerous other uncles, aunts and cousins too numerous to mention. There were family flowers only, but donations in lieu, for Camrose Baptist Chapel and the Chemotherapy Day Unit (ward ten), Withybush Hospital can be sent to Mr Len Davies, Plaindealings, Hayscastle. Mr William Lewis, Ford Bungalow, Wolfscastle carried out the funeral arrangements.

Mr G. H. C. Thomas Haverfordwest Mr Gordon Howard Charles Thomas, of 1 Coronation Avenue, Prendergast, Haverfor-dwest, died peacefully at his home on July 16th, aged 73. Mr Thomas had fought courageously for the past six months against terminal illness, but he sadly lost his fight for life with his immediate family at his bedside. Known to many as a 'Cora boy', Gordon would often refer to his beloved Prendergast, much to everyone's amusement, as God's country. Leaving school at the age of 14, he took up an apprenticeship as a carpenter. He worked in the construction industry all his life, before retiring from Withybush General Hospital's maintenance staff in 1991. Gordon served two years' national service with the Royal Artillery. While serving in the Army and stationed in Belfast, Northern Ireland, he became cruiser-weight boxing champion and that is where his love for sport began. He played rugby for Haverfordwest RFC as a wing forward (flanker) for many seasons, and was a committee member for four decades, eventually becoming a trustee of the club. Gordon was instrumental in helping establish Prendergast Villa into the Pembrokeshire football league when it was formed in 1994. He was a fanatical Manchester United supporter. For many years Gordon helped run the successful Haverfordwest darts league. A very popular character who often described himself while socialising as having 'lived life to the full', he will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him. He was predeceased by his wife Doreen in September, 1984. A large crowd gathered at St David's Church and Prendergast cemetery to pay their final respects on Friday, July 22nd. Canon Geoffrey Gwyther officiated and Gordon's cousin Mr Anthony Lawrence gave a moving tribute while his grandson Neil Thomas read a poem. The bearers were Terry O'Sullivan, Jim Davies, Peter Morgan and Gordon Thomas. Left to mourn are Steven and Sandra Thomas (son and daughter-in-law); Gail and Anthony Arnold (daughter and son-in-law); Gordon and Diane Thomas (son and daughter-in-law); grandchildren Neil, Mark, Laura, Justin, Emma, Joshua and Bryony and great grandchildren, Mrs Jesse Jacobs and Phil Harries (sister-in-law and partner) and family from Neath and Mrs Pauline Taylor and other relatives. Unable to attend the funeral were Betty and Tom Phillips (sister-in-law and brother-in-law) and their family from Canada. There were family flowers only. Donations in lieu for ward ten Withybush General Hospital or the Paul Sartori Foundation can be sent to Derek Coles, 28 Scotchwell View, Prendergast, Haverford-west. Funeral arrangements were carried out by Glyn Thomas and Son, Freystrop.

MR D. KEATES MONKTON The funeral took place at Parc Gwyn Crematorium on July 25th, of Mr Derek Keates, of Montgomery Close, Monkton, Pembroke, aged 73. Derek was born in Leeds, Yorkshire. He served with the Army, first doing his National Service, then later with the Royal Air Force for 22 years, leaving the service due to health reasons in 1983 with Parkinson's disease. Principle mourners were: his wife Joan; son Ian and daughter Sandra; grandchildren Mark, Kelly, Lisa and Kevin; great grandchildren Peter, Toby Antonio, Chardinay and Chenise; son-in-law Nicky; daughter-in-law Alex; Bill Boy (grandson-in-law); Mike (Lisa's partner); Lydia (Mark's partner); Mikey (nephew); Eric (lifelong friend); Maggie (friend); special friends Tiny, Jenny Ann and Colleen; also carers from Ashdale Nursing Home and numerous other friends. The bearers were Ian (son), Kevin (grandson), Bobby and Eric (friends). The funeral arrangements were carried out by Neil Roberts, of John Roberts and Son, 51 Bush Street, Pembroke Dock.

MR B. C. HOLT CLYNDERWEN The funeral of Bryan Chorlton Holt, of Rhydwen, Clynderwen, aged 88, took place at St Tyssilio's Church, Llandissilio, on July 22nd. It was conducted by Rev Kingsley Taylor and Rev Jonathan Holst, with Rev Huw George assisting. Bryan was born and educated in Manchester. In 1940 he joined the army and spent the next six years serving his country in West Africa, India and Burma. In 1948 Bryan purchased Rhydwen Farm and in 1949 he married Enid. Together they embarked on their long and happy life together. They worked tirelessly throughout the years to raise their family of five children and to build up Rhydwen into a successful dairy farm. Bryan was also involved in helping to found the local vintage tractor club, was an active member of the British Legion, found time for hobbies that included photography, bee-keeping, clock making and playing the church organ. Bryan will be missed by his family, friends and neighbours and everyone whose lives he touched with his gentle ways and sense of humour. Principal mourners were: his wife of 56 years Enid; Richard and Judy, son and daughter-in-law; Michael and Dorinda, son and daughter-in-law; Jane and Ross, daughter and son-in-law; Rosalind and Pete, daughter and son-in-law; Judith and Tim, daughter and son-in-law. Also grandchildren Joseph and Simeon, Daniel and Rebecca, Jessica and Sam, James, Joanna, Timothy and Nicholas, Alexander and Eleanor, sister-in-law Melita and niece Helen. Unable to attend were Stan and Sylvia, Enid's brother and sister-in-law, niece Alison and family. The bearers at the Chapel of Rest were the six eldest grandsons; James, Daniel, Tim, Nick, Sam and Alex, and at the church; John Beynon, Gareth Griffiths, Laurie Bowen, Hywel Llewellyn, Andrew Dugmore and Philip Mahiques, representing neighbours, British Legion and St Tyssilio's Church. Funeral arrangements were provided by Ken Davis. There were family flowers only, donations in lieu to Withybush Hospital may be sent to Ken Davies.

MR T. KILCOYNE BANGESTON The funeral took place on Tuesday, July 26th at St Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Pembroke Dock, of Mr Tom Kilcoyne, of Lovesgrove, Bangeston, Pembroke Dock, who died at his home on July 18th, aged 84. Born in Ballymote, Co Sligo, Ireland, Tom first came to Pembrokeshire following the Second World War and worked for the Agricultural Committee where he met his beloved wife Edith (who predeceased him in 1989). In 1957 he took over the tenancy of Chapel Farm, Castlemartin and later the farms at Kingswood and Bangeston, Pembroke Dock. He forged many lifelong friendships within the south Pembrokeshire farming community and was chairman of Pembroke Farmers' Club on many occasions. Farming remained his main interest even after his retirement in 1985. Family left to mourn are: Ian and Sian Kilcoyne, John and Jane Kilcoyne (sons and daughters-in-law); Jemma, Robert, Laura, Sarah, Rhodri and Carys (grandchildren); Catherine Connell (sister, Ballymote.) There were also many family and friends who attended the service which was conducted by Father John Dermody. The bearers were his sons Ian and John, his grandson Robert and farming friends George John, Stephen Alderman and Terry Watkins. There were family flowers only with donations in lieu to Paul Sartori Foundation which may be forwarded to the funeral directors, John Roberts and Son, 51 Bush Street, Pembroke Dock.

MR B. J. JENKINS MONKTON (formerly of Martletwy) There was a large gathering at the funeral, which took place on Thursday, July 28th, at Parc Gwyn Crematorium of Ben Jenkins who died at ward ten, Withybush Hospital. He was born in Martletwy, where he went to school and later married there. He moved to Monkton 40 years ago. His last employment was as a rigger at Pembroke Power Station. He retired from there 16 years ago. He leaves to mourn his wife Sheila of 50 years and family members. The principal mourners were: Sheila (wife); Marion and Robert, Diane and Frank (daughters and sons-in-law); Malcolm, Clifford and Susan (sons and daughter-in-law); Stephen, Neil, Sian, Paul, David, Michael, Martyn, Gemma and Luke (grandchildren); Ciara, Niamh and Keavey (great grandchildren); Alan and Sue, Max (brothers and sister-in-law); Gwen, Glenys and Molly (sisters); Elwyn and Bronwen, John and Audrey (brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law); together with other relatives too numerous to mention. Bearers were Glyn Collings, Roy Griffiths, Bob David, Arthur Evans (all ex Power Station) and Malcolm Palmer (friend). There were immediate family flowers only with donations, if so desired, for Ward 10, Withybush Hospital, which may be sent to Graham Thomas, 34 Charles Thomas Avenue, Pembroke Dock, SA72 6UR. The funeral arrangements were carried out by E. C. Thomas and Son, 31 Stockwell Road, Pembroke Dock.

MR B. C. WATSON PEMBROKE Mr B. C. Watson, of Tegfan, Grove Hill, Pembroke, died on July 13th after a six-week stay at Withybush Hospital, aged 72. Mr Watson was a native of Swansea and worked at Tir John, Carmarthen Bay and Pembroke power stations. He was principal engineer at Pembroke Power Station before retiring in 1991. He was secretary for many years with Pembroke and Pembroke Dock Lions and a voluntary advisor with the Citizens Advice Bureau. Family left to mourn are: Averil Watson (wife); Peter and Alison Watson (son and daughter-in-law); Jane and Phillip Colbourne (daughter and son-in-law); Tom, Daniel, Adam and Sam (grandsons). The funeral took place on July 22nd at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth and was conducted by Rev Roger Hart. Bearers were Peter Watson, Phillip Colbourne, Tony Ranoe and Ray Morgan. Principal mourners were: Averil Watson, Peter Watson, Jane Colbourne, Phillip Colbourne, Alan Smith, Andrea Nicholson and Jonathan Smith. Unable to attend was Alison Watson. There were family flowers only. The funeral arrangements were carried out by E. C. Thomas and Son, 31 Stockwell Road, Pembroke Dock.

MRS R. D. SPURR PEMBROKE DOCK The death occurred on July 20th, at Morriston Hospital, Swansea, of Mrs Ruby Doreen Spurr, of 4 Charlton Place, Pembroke Dock, aged 67. Mrs Spurr was a native of Pembroke Dock and worked as a care assistant at Bush House. Ruby ran the Copper Kettle Restaurant in Bush Street for several years. Ruby was a great dog lover and spent many years showing bichon frises at national dog shows. She was a devoted wife, mother and nanny and was always happiest when helping others and organising family get-togethers. She was a baptist and regularly attended Emmanuel Gospel church in Manorbier. Ruby and her husband John would have celebrated their silver wedding on December 4th this year. Family left to mourn are: John (husband); Glyn (son); Alanna (granddaughter); Tracy (daughter-in-law); Barbara and Brian (sister and brother-in-law); Peggy (sister); Derek and Pam (brother and sister-in-law); Clifford (brother); Susan, Gareth, Shan, Neal, Paul, Hayley, Carol, Steve and Michael (nephews and nieces); and her great nephews and nieces. The funeral took place on Wednesday, July 27th, at Gilgal Baptist Church, Pennar, Pembroke Dock, followed by interment at Llanion Cemetery and was officiated by Rev Roger Hart and Rev Jonathan Finlay. Ruby's niece, Susan, read out a poem at the funeral. Bearers were Neal Spencer, Gareth Hughes, Paul James and Michael Morrison (nephews). Principal mourners were: John Spurr (husband); Glyn and Tracy Williams (son and daughter-in-law); Alanna Williams (granddaughter); Barbara and Brian James (sister and brother-in-law); Peggy Jones (sister); Derek and Pam Scourfield (brother and sister-in-law); Clifford Scourfield (brother); Susan and Gareth Hughes (niece and nephew); Shan and Neal Spencer (niece and nephew); Paul and Hayley James (nephew and niece); Michael and Hayley Morrison (nephew and niece); Carol and Steve Freeman (nephew and niece); Sarah and Kylie Freeman (great nieces); and friends and relatives too numerous to mention. The funeral arrangements were carried out by E. C. Thomas and Son.
