A vintage day out

An impressive display of tractors, cars and motorbikes was on show at the recent Vintage Display and Fun Day at Bwlchygroes.

The event was opened by Mrs Pat Griffiths, Verwig, a former pupil of the school and this year's president, while Emyr Phillips gave an informative commentary.

Among the other attractions were The Aberporth Dog Agility Team and the dog and duck demonstration; pony and trap rides and a produce and craft show.

Activities for the children included kite making, face painting, bouncy castle, mini sports and various games and competitions.

A pig roast started the evening programme and this was followed by some lively dancing.

The first show was held in 2003 to raise funds to buy the old school site and develop it into a centre for community use.

More than £5,000 has been raised in each of the previous shows. The committee is confident that this year's total will be about the same. The total needed to buy the site is £55,000.
