Emily wins DC's Cup

South Pembrokeshire Pony Club started the year off on a very upbeat note.

At the recent awards evening, held at the Cresselly Cricket Club, members, were presented with their certificates and badges for 2005.

The successful members were recognised for their participation in team events, such as dressage, eventing, triathlon and tetrathlon, and the retiring district commissioner, Dawn Harries, presented the DC's Cup to Emily Pellington.

Dawn praised 15-yearold Emily for the progress she has made with her riding and the hardwork she has put into bringing on her young pony.

Another member who shone in 2005 was Rosie Rees of St Florence, who won the working hunter pony championship class in Peterborough on Woodrough and was a member of the Welsh team.

Rosie also was points champion in the Section D class at the Welsh Pony and Cob Society Performance Show, riding Manorbier Daniel.

A busy 2005 saw members walking the catwalk in a charity fashion show, presenting the local Downs Syndrome Association with a cheque for £400, and carol singing to raise money for the Lluest Horse Rescue Trust.

These events were fitted in between the traditional horse shows, annual camp, riding events and instruction expected in Pony Club.

The committee, under the new district commissioner Gail Willington, has been set a challenging agenda to provide an imaginative and fun calendar for this year. Members were also asked to submit their ideas for activities in 2006.
