Drug offender to pay the price for buying in bulk

A PIPE-FITTER from Milford Haven has admitted possessing £2,459 of illegal drugs.

Johnathan Mark Richards, aged 50, of 54 Woodbine Way, pleaded guilty to three charges at Haverfordwest magistrates court, saying he always bought drugs in bulk because he got a discount. He said he enjoyed the drug and it was for personal use.

On November 30th, police stopped his Renault on Dredgeman Hill and noticed that it smelt strongly of cannabis. When an officer started to search the car, Richards gave him a carrier bag containing 154.3 grammes of herbal cannabis.

A search of Richards' house uncovered 36.3 grammes of amphetamine and 290.4 grammes of cannabis resin.

Defending solicitor Eirug Roberts said Richards had given up drugs since his arrest because he was concerned that his habit had grown out of control. He said Richards had also been to counselling.

The case was adjourned to April 5th for pre-sentence reports.
