Sad day for Tory party

DEAR EDITOR - As an ex-president of the Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire Conservative Association may I say what a sad day it was for the Conservative cause in Pembrokeshire at the Kilgetty meeting last Saturday.

A dedicated gang of single issue people joined the association and outvoted all the hard-working party workers and drove out a fine candidate, chairman and secretary. It was a good as any hunt and one could almost hear the tallyho-s echoing around the hall. Is Simon Hart to woo the electors of South Pembrokeshire on a single issue, while ignoring the broad Conservative values and policies which have inspired party members? Mr Ainger can cease to worry about the appalling record of his dismal government, and concentrate on a sterile, single issue campaign. No wonder a party official said that the association hadn't got a cat's chance in hell of winning the seat for the Conservatives as he surveyed the wreckage of so many years of dedicated work for the party.
