Country has no voice in vital areas

DEAR EDITOR - The latest news of the radical changes recommended by the Royal Colleges of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, of paediatrics and of midwives, to the maternity services at Withybush Hospital, gives rise to grave concerns.

To transfer high-risk pregnant women to Carmarthen at a time when they most need reassurance and expert care, falls short of the caring, professional standards normally attributed to the nursing profession. This issue, coupled with the proposed reduction in fire-fighting cover and the proposed police forces merger, leads one to the conclusion that Wales has no real voice in these vital areas. What next?
