The Western Telegraph is joining forces with Age Positive, the Government campaign to end age discrimination at work, to launch the Age Positive Awards 2006.
The award is the only one in its field that recognises best practice on tackling age discrimination in employment.
Haverfordwest-born David Adams, of the FAW Trust, was awarded the Welsh individual award for 2004. Mr Adams, aged 26, is one of the youngest professional football coaches in Wales to hold the UEFA A licence. He received his award for overcoming the views of those who thought he was too young to coach.
He said: "I hope it makes employers aware of the wasted talent that comes from discriminating on the basis of a person's age."
Age Positive and the Western Telegraph are calling for entries in two categories:
Employer category: employers who can demonstrate they have a positive attitude towards age diversity in their recruitment, training and development.
Individual category: an individual who can demonstrate how they overcame age discrimination in getting a job or making a career change.
For an entry form visit www.agepositive.gov.uk. If you require an application form sent by post contact Melissa Adams on 02920 487 385. The closing date for entries is April 14th.
