SUPER heavyweight Welsh boxer Kevin Evans had to settle for a Commonwealth Games silver medal after losing to England's David Price in Melbourne on Saturday.
The man from Carmarthen, who now lives with his Pembrokeshire wife Ruth in the Cardigan area, announced his retirement after losing the gold medal bout.
After losing on the outclassed rule in the third round when Price opened up a 20-point lead, the 29-year-old said: "That's me done. I'm retired now.
"I've had a great life out of boxing. I've travelled the world and met amazing people, but I don't fancy getting back into the ring again."
Evans can boast a World Championship bronze medal from 1999, two bronze Commonwealth Games medals and a glut of domestic honours, including gold at this year's Four Nations tournament.
He said winning a silver in his final championships was a fitting way to hang up his gloves.
