Dear Editor, - If wind energy companies, that divide communities, were able to seize land through compulsory-purchase powers it would signal the end of democracy.

Bare hills and prominent uplands are a great source of inspiration, tranquility and peace of mind.

The industrialisation of the skyline would distract and destroy.

I understand that Britain is responsible for around 2% of the world (CO2) pollution.

The USA with 5% of the world population is contributing 25% to global pollution.

President Bush says this can be rectified with modern technology: apparently he's right. So get cracking George!

The power of ties, waves and currents must be harnessed; supermarkets should use their vast roofs for solar panels.
