Soldiers are in the pink

The skies over Haverfordwest were filled with pink balloons on Sunday afternoon.

Soldiers from the 14th Signal Regiment released about 2,000 balloons from Tesco car park for Cancer Research.

Members of the public bought the balloons, donated by PartyPacks.co.uk, in the days leading up to the release, with money going to Tesco's walk for life appeal to support breast cancer research.

Soldiers and their families then spent more than four hours inflating the balloons using helium from Compupeople.co.uk.

"We underestimated the response from local people," said second warrant officer David Greenstreet. "It has been absolutely fantastic."

Each balloon was tagged with information enabling the finder to contact the Brawdy team. Food and drink hampers from Tesco will be awarded to the person whose balloon is tracked to the furthest point and to the person who finds it.
