I insure an old camper van that does about 1500 miles a year max, with the NFU, last year it cost £231 with full no claims, this year it is £320 with no claims. I rang another insurance brokers to get a quote, they informed me that I already had a good deal at £320. They also said, because I was paying my insurance on a direct debit, if I cancelled I would still have to pay the full insurance premium of my old insurance policy because it is a credit agreement. if you cancelled your policy you would have to pay the full premium. He also informed me that because my camper was my only vehicle, insurance companies charge you an excess because using a camper van as a main vehicle you are more likely to have an accident. I know £320 is not a lot in relation to what other drivers have to pay, but how they have moved the goal posts over the last few years. Welcome to "Rip off Britain" at every corner you turn.
