Last year Steven Spielberg collaborated with E.A. and made Boom Blox for the Wii. Reviews were generally positive and it's been successful enough to warrant a sequel.

It's perhaps difficult for gamer's of a certain age to comprehend but the Gameboy is twenty years old this year. In those twenty years the seminal handheld has sold around 120 million units.

The Lost and The Downloaded

I lost interest in Grand Theft Auto 4 in about as long as it takes to watch Scarface or Goodfellas. It's a pattern for me with the series since its first outing on the P.S.2. I spend ages prior to release of the latest iteration telling myself I'm not going to buy it. Then I buy it. Play it for a few hours. Get annoyed by the mission structure and then leave it. And don't go back. The addition of online multiplayer content hasn't changed things for me this time around. I found the online modes good in theory but frustratingly lightweight to play with nothing their to pull me back.

January and February are tough months. It's just been announced that we are 'officially' in a recession. Doesn't that make you feel better? Isn't that like the pilot of a plane telling you that it is 'officially' going to crash as it hurtles towards the ground?

Blimey, if you thought your wallet took a pounding in 2008, wait until you see this year. It's perhaps ironic (not like a black fly in your chardonnay) that as the current economic downturn continues gamer's face what looks set to be one of the most financially demanding years of this console generation.
