The mobile library arrives every three weeks which - and particularly if people are housebound - is like a treasure trove. The mobile librarian becomes a friend and the books an escape to other times and other lives.

The Red Kite is seen in the area around Newport and Brynberion. It now attracts tourists as an attraction to rival dolphins, seals and sea birds seen from the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. The Rev Morris, Victorian bird expert feared for the fate of the Kite at the hands of poisoning and trapping gamekeepers 100 years ago.

Denis Watkins retired to Newport, with his wife Daphne, after spending much of his working life in Nottingham. Since moving to Pembrokeshire he has immersed himself in the culture and language of the county. He has learnt Welsh so that he can chat to native Welsh speakers, listen to Radio Cymru and read and write fairly well. His other interests are politics, the environment,walking on the Preselis and the coastal path with his two labradors, rowing, reading biographies and writing.
