Andrew Lye was born in 1959, in Devizes, Wiltshire. Andrew was brought up in a village at the base of the Salisbury Plain and attended local schools. Andrew went to work for the Atomic Energy Authority, in Oxfordshire, after completing his "A" levels. Andrew then went to Portsmouth Polytechnic (now Portsmouth University) and studied for a Business Studies degree. On graduating, Andrew moved back to Wiltshire and bought his first house in Trowbridge and became active in local politics (Lib Dem) and eventually got elected to Trowbridge Town Council (1987-2000) and West Wiltshire District Council (1991-1999). By the time he retired from the Councils, he had served terms as Mayor or Trowbridge and Leader of West Wiltshire District Council. Andrew is no longer active in party politics and has no involvement with the local Lib Dems. But since moving to Pembrokeshire in 2001 with his wife Ann, he still maintains a close interest in what is happening (or not!) in Pembrokeshire nd would like to see greater involvement by the people of Pembrokeshire, in what is being done in their name. Andrew primarily became involved in local politics to put wrongs to right and put some common sense back into people's lives. Andrew is not afraid to speak out, even if others are. All he wants is some common sense put back into our lives, even if its not quite politically correct. Andrew set up the on-line petition in April 2005, calling for the removal of the tolls on the Cleddau Bridge. Andrew moved to Pembrokeshire, for a new life after passing the age of 40. Life begins at 40! Now 48, Andrew is self employed and loves Pembrokeshire as it reminds him of Wiltshire when he was a boy - apart from Wiltshire did not have the sea, the National Park, the Preseli Hills. The countryside, the flowers, the bird life, the coastline .... ITS ALL SPECTACULAR. Even now, every day feels like a holiday. Unlike many English people who come to retire in Pembrokeshire, Andrew CHOSE to move to Pembrokeshire to WORK and enjoy the benefits of living in such a beautiful part of Wales. Andrew lives in Johnston with his 2 dogs, Randolf and Jessie. Andrew loves Ruddles Rhubarb beer (Tesco's, Haverfordwest) and fish and chips from Virgo's fish and chip shop in Johnston... Andrew also is an avid E-Bayer and sells under the name of FLOGGOFF.
In 2000, Brynle Williams was one of the leaders of the fuel protests, agaainst the rising price of fuel. The protestors were largely lorry drivers and farmers and they were accused of being Conservative supporters, at the time of the Labour Government under Tony Blair.
I was in Morrisons supermarket in Haverfordwest last night. At the end of one of the aisles, they had Cadbury Cream Eggs as follows: 1 at 50p A pack of 3 (special purchase) at £1.49 A pack of 6 (half price) at ....... £1.49 A pack of 12 (special purchase) .......£5.79 The silly thing is that they were all next to each other.
I don't know why the Council changed the design of the recycling bags, just over a year ago.

After over 4 weeks since her disappearance and then her body was discovered on Christmas Day, 32 year old Vincent Tabak was finally arrested and charged with the murder of Jo Yeates, in Bristol.
As I work from home, being self employed, I have the signs up that state no smoking is allowed on the premises, for any visitors who may call, on work business.
2 or 3 weeks ago, I posted a blog piece on a letter from Pembrokeshire County Council.
I see that Carmarthenshire County Council is deciding today what to do today about the dangerous right turn junction on the A48, to/from Cwmgwili. It has seen several accidents and fatalities in recent years.

This week, the news has been largely dominated by the effects of the weather and the comments made by several Liberal Democrat Ministers about certain figures in the Conservative Party, Conservative policy and Vince Cable declaring war on Rupert Murdoch.
