Weather forecasters are promising snow to return on Thursday and some newspapers are predicting that we are to have the worst winter for 50 years. Snow is likely to be around until February, they also advise.

Many times we hear of the Welsh Assembly Government complaining that the cuts will hit Wales harder than the rest of the UK and that the Barnett Formula, devised in the late 1970's is in urgent need of revision. The Barnett formula was devised to work out the amounts of public money to be devolved to Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

I have made it clear in a previous blog that I am a member of the Liberal Democrats, though I do not recall mentioning that I am wholeheartedly supportive of the coalition Government. The country needed strong Government, especially because of the dire state of the public purse. There was no alternative. A rainbow coalition of Labour, the Lib Dems, Plaid, SNP and the Irish Unionist parties still would not have produced a coalition that would stick together. A minority Conservative Government would not have survived long either.
