I think Water Kefir is fantastic
We finally got around to making a batch of Water Kefir, we have read about the health benefits of it, but with one thing or another, we did not find the time to make it, until now, that is. I am delighted we finally got around to making it, it is greeeeaaatt!
Water Kefir is simply sugar-water that is fermented at room temperature with Kefir grains for about 24-48 hours. It has many wonderful health benefits and can be better tolerated than Pop for diabetics because of its lower GL (due to its acidic nature). It's a wonderful alternative for those who are lactose intolerant or sensitive to casein in dairy. Water Kefir is full of Probiotics, and can have just as many (if not different) benefits than traditional yogurt or milk Kefir. The affordability of sugar and water makes it not only healthier than most beverages, but cheaper too. The reusable, sustainable grains also make it more economical. We prefer to use organic raw cane sugar, organic Raisins along with organic Lemons. Water Kefir is a fantastic homemade and easily produced, Probiotic drink full of Vitamins and healthy Bacteria that are beneficial to our digestive systems. It tastes great, a bit like weak Cola, with a slight fizz. There are countless positive health benefit claims on the internet, by people who have been taking Kefir for years. Kefir is really simple to make, all you need to do is buy some water Kefir crystals off EBay they cost about £4 including postage, then get yourself the following items., a glass jar a litre in size, a 2 litre bottle of still spring water Organic Raw Cane Sugar, Organic Raisins, Organic Lemons. How to make your Water Kefir Pour 6 cups of bottled spring water into a Litre jar.
Dissolve 6 table spoons of organic cane sugar into the spring water Add 6 table spoons of water Kefir crystals, and then a couple of slices of organic lemon and one or two tablespoons of organic raisins.
Cover the jar with a paper towel held on with an elastic band That is it, leave it for 24-48hrs to ferment and then it is ready to enjoy.
Pour off the liquid, then refill your jar with fresh spring water and the rest of the ingredients as above, and it’s off again.
Your Kefir crystals multiply, so soon you will have plenty of Kefir crystals to hand around to your family and friends.
