Mamma Mia screenings to raise funds for RNLI and Friends of Theatr Gwaun

Theatr Gwaun in Fishguard is fighting for its survival and supporters of the much loved venue have arranged some fun-filled events to help raise funds.

In association with the RNLI, the Friends of Theatr Gwaun present screenings of the hit movie Mamma Mia, in all its technicolor glory.

With Abba hits from Waterloo to Dancing Queen audiences may raise the roof and sing their hearts out to this fun, light-hearted and exuberant film, which also includes the hit SOS, a reminder that action is needed to prevent the theatre’s closure.

Fancy dress is also welcome and there will be a prize for the best costume.

The sing-along version of Mamma Mia is showing on Saturday at 7.30pm and Sunday at 2.30pm.

Tickets are £5 from Seaways Bookshop, the box office on 01348 873421 or on the door.

Following the Sunday screening, an open meeting with Friends of Theatr Gwaun is an opportunity for members of the community to discuss the venue’s future and what the Friends are trying to achieve, as well as letting people say what they would like to see happen to the theatre.

Profits from the screenings will be split between the Friends and the RNLI.

The second event is a delightful show for children from the Sea Legs Puppet Theatre.

Using wonderfully creative puppets and superb storytelling, the theatre’s adaptation of Sergei Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf is sure to enthral children and adults alike.

Suitable for ages three and over, the audience will travel with artistic director Rob Ashman into deepest, darkest Russia, to old man Prokofiev’s house in the woods, where the big, hungry, wolf lives.

And don’t miss the chance to meet the puppets after the performance. Children will love to get up close and personal with these fantastic creatures, which ooze character and charm.

Peter and the Wolf is at Theatr Gwaun on Thursday, August 19th at 2.30pm.

Tickets are £6 adults, £5 concessions, or a family ticket (for two adults and two children is £12). Call the box office on 01348 873421.
