Massive Attack writer and vocalist, Yolanda Quartey, will be bringing her high-octane talent, vocals and star presence to Pembrokeshire when her band Phantom Limb returns to Queens Hall, Narberth, tonight (Friday).
Described as "one of the finest voices of her generation", Quartey has been compared to the likes of Aretha Franklin, Etta James and Mavis Staples. She has performed as Massive Attack's lead vocalist on their world tour, and has provided backing vocals for a glittering list of names, including Dizzee Rascal, Ronan Keating, and Chase and Status.
Together, Phantom Limb mix top shelf classic, southern soul, country blues and high-voltage gospel funk. With lyrics and harmonies to make a grown man weep , the band has supported Rumer, Candi Staton and Will Young on tour, explaining its stadium-esque rock solid stage presence.
Sharing the billing for the night will be fast rising Tenby band - The Shaws, who recently appeared on the BBC's Don't Tell The Bride, and have more than 45,000 hits on You Tube for their first single release. Also supporting will be Cardiff band Dirty Sparrows, which will bring a mix of hip-hop, reggae, funk and dance on a mission to make you dance. Tickets are £10 or £8 from Span Arts, and doors open at 8pm.
