FULLERIANS got their league campaign back on track with a narrow 16-14 over a Welwyn side who are better than their lowly league position suggests .
The first half was a stop-start affair with a host of penalties conceded by Fullerians.
Mark Cooper trundled over the line from three meters out to put the home side ahead only for Welwyn to cancel the score out in the second half with a well-worked backs move.
Fullerians kept their cool and fly-half Kim McClellan kicked two more penalties and an outstanding drop goal to win the game.
"It was important to bounce back from last weeks defeat," said Fullers captain Kevin Brind.
"We are still playing way short of our potential but we keep grinding out results. There are five teams in this league all on eight points from their first five games. Fullerians are among them and well in contention for promotion."
