FROM Monday next week until November 1, the Joanna Field Gallery at Milford Haven's Torch Theatre is hosting a joint exhibition of work by Robert Jakes and Charlotte Cortazzi.

Robert is a wood sculptor who has worked locally and abroad creating seating, archways, interpretation features and public sculptures that take inspiration from the environments that they are created for.

Robert's works for this exhibition are smaller sculptures that he calls 'chainsaw whittlings'. They include wall mounted figures perched, stalled or caught in the process of imminent movement, reflecting the precarious nature of our existence.

Charlotte is a well-known local painter whose landscapes of South Pembrokeshire are folk inspired, vibrant and idiosyncratic. Her new paintings reflect the movement, flex and warmth of the human gaze over familiar places around the coastline of Barafundle, Bullslaughter Bay, St. Govan's Chapel and Freshwater West.

For more than 20 years both artists have lived and worked in South Pembrokeshire where they were two of the founders of Sand Palace Arts; the community arts group that is renowned for its unique creative atmosphere, flag, kite and puppet events and the Pembroke Festival lantern processions. This joint exhibition presents their new, personal and more reflective work.

Gallery opening hours are 10am-8pm.
