New exciting show for summer at the Waterfront

The Summer exhibition at the Waterfront Gallery in Milford Docks has opened with an exciting range of very different arts and crafts. Director David Randell explained, “There are some of our regular exhibitors alongside a number of new ones together with several recent graduates from Coleg Sir Gar - a lot of new work from all of them and such variety, definitely something for all tastes. “

Painter Lynn Parr extends her experimentation with her brightly coloured mixed media, textile dominated pieces and award winning painter John Cahill continues with the intricate details of his large North Pembrokeshire work. Dorian Spencer-Davies moving away from his usual illustrative style is presenting three foot square mixed media work on canvas of coastal scenes of Pembrokeshire. Anne Farrell Doyle has returned to some water colour work with a collection of delicately painted summer flower bouquets. Also new to the gallery is local oil painter Neil Stokes demonstrating his skill with cloud formations over the coast.

Master weaver Riitta Sinkonen-Davies is also showing new work mainly as a celebration of the sea, so lots of different shade of blues and greens. Ray Burnell is continuing with his oil and acrylic landscapes, hanging alongside representational watercolours from Graham Hadlow. Sculpture Sally Amoore is offering her bronze and resin animal sculptures by the side of glass artist Moira White who’s working with layers of colour, paint, pattern and texture in her new free-standing glass windows inspired by local landscapes.

David continued, “Recent ceramics graduate from Coleg Sir Gar Joe Frowen has selected his unusual large hand-built pots illustrating his love of sci -fi films, alternate realities and utopias – some over two-foot tall, in contrast to his colleague Mr Brown’s small Chinese influenced pieces. Alongside fine arts graduate Alexander Fox –Robinson’s large work (4ft x 6ft) on canvas reminiscent of the large crowd scenes painted by the Dutch artist Hieronymous Bosch is well worth a look. I feel there’s lots of colour and interest for everyone.”

The exhibition continues until 25 August and the gallery is open Monday to Saturday 10.30am till 4.00pm
