THERE is a real Sunday treat in store for Pembrokeshire music lovers next month when a rising star of the piano world drops into Rhosygilwen Mansion to give a lunchtime recital.

Clare Hammond, who has been receiving rave reviews from national critics, has responded to an invitation from Alan Caunce to bring an enterprising programme of her work to Pembrokeshire on Sunday, May 3, starting at 2.30pm.

“We are so fortunate to attract someone of Clare’s amazing talent to stimulate music in Pembrokeshire this summer,” said Alan, the former artistic director of the Fishguard Music Festival.

“Critics have acclaimed Clare’s amazing power and panache,” said Alan, “and I was attracted by her reputation for brilliantly imaginative concert programmes.”

Clare spreads her ability across generations of piano composition, from classical and romantic through to this century’s composers and at Rhosygilwen she will include works by Couperin, Lyapunov and Kapustin as well as Beethoven, Rachmaninov and Ravel.

Concert tickets are available at £10 and pre-concert lunch can also be booked in advance by calling 01239 841387.
