A night of fish and folk is taking place at Cardigan's Small World this Friday, May 29th during an evening of community celebration and collaboration.

The evening begins at 6pm with a feast of locally caught, deliciously barbecued fish and fish dishes caught in Cardigan Bay by Len Walters and prepared by his talented wife Mandy. Len will be fishing for sewin from his coracle on the Teifi. He'll also be catching sea bass, crab and haddock and Mandy is making it into a delicious supper. There will also be locally grown salads and artisan bread.

During the evening Cardigan's community cooperative 4CG Ltd will reveal the results of their feasibility study for a Fish Market in Cardigan.

A short film about fish and fishing will also be screened. This has been made by Cardigan Primary School children during a project with Small World called Cofia Pysgota. The children have interviewed people in the street and the fishermen in Gwbert. The film will accompany an education pack and teachers' notes so that the project can be shared with schools along our coastline.

Then the fantastic Fernhill will take to the stage, playing their lyrical and intensely beautiful folk music from 8pm.

Central to Fernhill's unique sound is the beautiful voice of Julie Murphy, described by Time Out as 'a must hear, must see singer'. She is accompanied by Ceri Rhys Matthews an accomplished guitarist, piper and flute player; Tomos Williams a subtle and inventive trumpet player and Christine Cooper an exciting young folk fiddler from Tenby.

Small World Theatre is taking bookings now and asking the audience to pre-book their fish dishes so that Len knows what to catch! The menu includes Haddock Chowder, Filleted Sea Bass and Sewin, Mini Dressed Crab and BBQ-ed Halloumi (vegetarian) all served with a selection of salads.

Tickets cost £10 for adults and £5 for children. Food is £7.50 or £3 for a child's portion. For more information visit smallworld.org.uk.
