NEWCASTLE Emlyn's versatile youth theatre group, 'JAGS', has been working recently on a new drama production, 'Act Your Age', to be performed at the Attic Theatre in the town.

Written and directed by Branwen and Suzanne Munn, the play tells the story of two young people who go to extreme lengths in order to convince their teacher that they should be accepted on the drama course at school.

Having no real ideas of their own, and feeling disillusioned, they are fortunate enough to be flung into the realms of time and space in order to pick up a few tips from erstwhile actors and writers who help them discover their own talent and show them that they are on the right track.

Along with four of the Attic Players who have kindly agreed to act in cameo roles, the 15 youngsters who constitute JAGS multi-task their way through a mind-blowing array of characters numbering 72 at the last count.

Too numerous to mention individually, they are all considered stars by the directors, having worked incredibly hard, to the point of giving up the entire May Bank holiday Monday for extra rehearsal time.

There is something for everyone to enjoy in the brilliant result of their dedication, along with delightful special effects, original music and songs devised by Branwen, as well as a bewildering variety of costumes.

Tickets are available for £5 each from Fair and Fabulous near the theatre in Newcastle Emlyn, or online at www.atticplayers.org.uk. Show dates are Thursday 29 and Friday 30 June at 7pm, doors open at 6.30pm at the Attic Theatre.
