FOLLOWING the success of Newcastle Emlyn’s first ever Art Festival last year, the 2017 Festival is set to be bigger and better. Not only will it be a two-week festival rather than a week as previously held, it also hopes to see every business in the town taking part.

“Every shop in Newcastle Emlyn has been made aware of the Festival and our aim is to see as many artists as possible exhibiting their work. We had a great response from many last year, and our hope is to welcome our regular artists as well as new ones,” said one of the organisers Rhian Davies, from Siop Gelf y Wiber.

The Art Festival will run from July 31 to August 12 and the Ceredigion Art Trail will follow on from that until August 28.

“I hope it will follow on from last year’s success and attract not only artists to exhibit their work but also attract more people into the town to look in shop windows. Many who come to the town only go to various food places to eat, and it would be great if all shops had the same opportunity and could attract an audience,” added Rhian.

Artists Nigel Robert Pugh from Maen y Groes, Andrew Francis from Newcastle Emlyn and local artist Iris Davies have already agreed to take part in the Festival and will exhibit their water colours, oil paintings and drawings.

If any artist would like to take part, Rhian can be contacted on (01239) 712946.
