THE Attic Players is proud to be hosting its very own one night festival of LGBT-themed films at the Attic Theatre in Newcastle Emlyn on Friday, July 6 at 7.30pm – with one of the films produced by the theatre company itself.

The event is presented in collaboration with Iris in the Community, a Cardiff-based project which brings LGBT issues and experiences to a wider audience through film-making and event hosting.

The festival will be a free event – the Players offer a very warm welcome to anyone who would like to attend - and there will be tea and cake during the interval.

The Attic Players, with the help of Iris representative Mark Williams, has selected a diverse series of short films from the catalogue of the Iris International LGBT Festival.

The programme includes 'Darkness', a fantastic short film made last year by Ysgol Gyfun Emlyn as part of the Iris Prize Educational Outreach.

The evening will culminate in the world premiere of 'Changes', a short film produced by the Attic Players themselves in collaboration with the Iris team, which was shot at Gwesty'r Porth in Llandysul earlier this year.

“We are very proud of our film and are incredibly excited to share it with the public,” says Attic member Branwen Munn, co-director and editor of 'Changes'.

“The Players have been working on it since January and we have thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with the Iris Outreach project. We're very grateful to have had the opportunity of working with such a skilled and dedicated team.”

Although the event is free, the Attic Players has made tickets available to guarantee entry. These can be obtained online via atticplayers.org.uk, or in person from Fair & Fabulous in Newcastle Emlyn. Tickets will be available on a first come, first served basis.

One of the films to be screened at the festival contains strong language, and one features scenes of implied brutality. For further information about this, please contact the group via their website, www.atticplayers.org.uk
