Mellt – one of Wales’ most prolific rock and most exciting live bands are coming to Pembrokeshire, supported by all-girl line-up, Adwaith.

Mellt have spent the last few years gigging anywhere and everywhere, with their hard work culminating in their debut album Mae’n Hawdd Pan Ti’n Ifanc (It’s Easy When You’re Young) being awarded Best Album at the 2018 Eisteddfod in Cardiff.

Having started as Y Gwirfoddolwyr while still in school in Aberystwyth, the band’s sound has developed from twinkly guitar riffs into a Clash-inspired rhythmic assault, taking inspiration from The Libertines and garage rock, while evoking the spirit of 80s punk.

The band released Cysgod Cyfarwydd EP with Cardiff label Jig-Cal in 2014, and since then have gigged frequently, moved to Cardiff, built their own home studio, and are in the process to become one of Wales’ most exciting live bands.

Extraordinary, electrifying and loud!

Supporting Mellt are Adwaith, fresh off the latest Joy Formidable’s UK tour as a support band. The all-girl line-up have also supported Gwenno and have had their singles remixed by the likes of Manic Street Preachers,’ James Dean Bradfield.

Arriving on the scene with a bang with their punk-infused folk songs full of angst and politically driven lyrics, Adwaith had a remarkable 2018, attracting attention from music press worldwide, playing in Green Man and Festival No 6, and culminating in the release of their much-anticipated debut album Melyn (Yellow) to much acclaim.

The event is a joint production by Span Arts and Menter Iaith at Letterston Hall on Saturday, March 16. Doors open at 7.30pm with music starting at 8pm.

Tickets are available now and on the door £5.
