Theatr Mwldan will be alive with the sound of music this week as Opera Teifi takes to the stage with Cole Porter’s Kiss Me Kate.
The popular local amateur opera company’s autumn production is a theatrical twirl bursting with wisecracks, shenanigans and sentiment.
It begins with a director preparing a musical version of Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew for a Broadway show but it is double the entertainment as Kiss Me Kate features a show within a show.
It follows the performers both on and off stage as the lives of the key players become more and more entwined, to dramatic and comedic effect.
Producer and actor Fred gets himself in a bit of bother with his ex-wife and new love interest. Mix in a bit of gangster debt collecting and Kiss Me Kate makes for a charming comedy of errors.
Cole Porter’s sumptuous score is filled with show stoppers we all know and love, such as Too Darned Hot, Wunderbar and Brush Up Your Shakespeare, as well as many more.
Tickets for the show which continues until Saturday, November 29th, starting at 7.30pm, are £9.
