WOW Wales One World Film Festival 2010 at Theatr Mwldan


WOW Wales One World Film Festival 2010 at Theatr Mwldan will be opened by film director Simon Chambers, formerly of Newport Pembs, and a screening of his film Every Good Marriage Begins With Tears (15) tomorrow Saturday 6th March at 6.30pm where he will be joined for a Q&A by the star Shahanara Begum.

Simon's latest film was recently screened on Channel 4 Cowboys of India to great acclaim. Every Good Marriage Begins with Tears (15)is a funny, intimate and moving documentary of how two British Asian girls respond very differently to the demands society makes on them and their journeys towards and after their arranged marriages.

  "A joyous surprise especially as it was made by some white guy." Asian Times   After spending some years in west Wales Simon Chambers studied at the National Film and Television school. He has also worked with the McLibel Campaign and as an AIDS researcher for a prostitutes' collective. While at the NFTS, he began to develop his approach to making films about important issues in entertaining ways. His graduation film, The Company We Keep, won the Royal Television Society’s Best Factual Film Award in the postgraduate category. Simon's subsequent films have been broadcast on Channel 4 and have picked up several awards at Film Festivals.
