A film star who was taken surfing, christened, blessed by nuns and taken to a bachelor festival is in Pembrokeshire next week to meet fans for the first local screening of the movie that bears his name.

Round Ireland with a Fridge - which recently debuted at the Cambridge Film Festival and is just out on dvd - was partly shot in the county.

And tonight (Tuesday), its author Tony Hawks will be accompanied by the very fridge that features with him in the film when they are both at the Torch Theatre.

Comedian and broadcaster Tony notched up a best-selling book with the true tale of how he hitch-hiked around Ireland with a fridge, just to win a drunken bet.

He then went on adapt the book for the screen, starring in the film as himself.

The film's 50-strong crew spent four days filming in Pembrokeshire in June 2009, with Manorbier beach, the Preseli Hills, Haverfordwest and the Tufton Arms all doubling for locations in Ireland.

Tony told the Western Telegraph: "I was stunned by just how beautiful Pembrokeshire's diverse landscape is. Wide open spaces and stunning beaches. On top of that, we had a very warm welcome from the locals. I'm looking forward to coming back."

Round Ireland with a Fridge is being shown at the Torch at 8pm. Tony Hawks will introduce the film and answer questions afterwards.
