NANTWEN’S summer concert this year is being given on Friday, August 3 (7.30pm) by the acclaimed Gildas Quartet.

An intimate concert of string quartets by Haydn and Beethoven are framed by the engaging String Quartet by Ravel.

The performers are the exciting young quartet The Gildas Quartet. They are stopping in to perform at Nantwen in Pembrokeshire following their return from Australia and before they embark on a tour of China.

The Gildas Quartet have performed to critical acclaim at major venues including the Bridgewater Hall, Purcell Room, Wigmore Hall and on BBC Radio 3.

Praised for their ‘energy, verve and refreshing approach’, their bold and explorative approach to performance has been recognised by the International Franz Schubert and Modern Music Competition, Graz, where they were first prize winners of the Audience Engagement Award in 2018.

The full programme is String Quartet Op 76 No 2 ‘Fifths’ by Joseph Haydn, String Quartet in F Major by Maurice Ravel, String Quartet Op 59 No 2 (Razumovsky) by Ludwig Van Beethoven.

The concert at Nantwen, near Newport, costs £18 and tickets are available from nantwen.co.uk/music by email info@nantwen.co.uk or by phoning 01239 821139.
