‘Happy Days, A New Musical’ is coming to Pembrokeshire, and open auditions are this week.

DO Theatre Productions, the county’s newest amateur theatre group are holding auditions this week for its first production ‘Happy Days, A New Musical’. The group has been set up by former Radio Pembrokeshire breakfast presenter Ollie Cole, with the aim of putting on productions across west Wales and helping individuals to grow, learn, improve and enjoy by being part of that process.

Auditions to be part of the group’s first show are being held this week at the De Valence Pavilion in Tenby, where the production will be performed from the end of June. People from all abilities and backgrounds of ages 11+ are encouraged to head along either today (Thursday) from 7pm, or Sunday (February 12) from 3pm for the opportunity to be part of Happy Days, A New Musical.

Upon arrival, performers will be asked to fill out a simple form with contact details and previous experience, plus preferred roles. They’ll then be introduced to some of the team behind DO Theatre Productions and the casting team. Auditions will consist of both singing and acting elements, with information, extracts and audition materials available online currently so as those wishing to take part can get as prepared as possible.

Ahead of the auditions, the group’s producer Ollie Cole caught up with the producer of the original UK Tour of Happy Days, A New Musical, Amy Anzel, who is currently producing Dreamgirls in the West End. She described the show as a “family friendly musical for people of all ages” that will leave you “feeling like you're on cloud nine.”
