I UNDERSTAND that the government intends quietly over the New Year to remove planning control for Nationally Important Infrastructure Projects (NIIPs) away from Wales and local people.
This affects local control over mining for coal, gas and oil and could result in massive damage to the landscape of Pembrokeshire. It also relates to fracking for gas shale which by its nature is impossible to guarantee that the chemicals involved will not contaminate local water supplies.
If planning control is removed from Wales fracking could be given the go ahead within the space of a year.
