Setting history in its place
2:11pm Friday 23rd August 2013 in Letters
I EXPECT many of your readers have watched the two BBC series, The White Queen and The Real White Queen, with interest because they concern the rise of Henry Tudor to the throne. I wonder if they felt more than a bit annoyed when in both programmes his arrival in Britain was described as landing in Milford Haven. In local history we have always thought he landed in Dale. Milford Haven did not exist as such in those days, but was created in the very early years of the 19th Century. I actually sent a message to the BBC mentioning this but have not had a reply which does not surprise me because the series were based on the writings of Philippa Gregory, so one should probably write to her. I would love to get reactions via your newspaper and find out whether anyone agrees with me or does it not matter?
