Where will TIC go?

I REFER to the article on September 11: ‘Give views on tourist info centre move’.
I don’t know when the Western Telegraph learned of ‘Pembrokeshire County Council plans to move the Tourist Information Centres (TICs) at Haverfordwest and Saundersfoot into the town’s libraries’. But the first I heard of it was from your article.
When was it we first learned the council was to rebuild Haverfordwest Library? And it was surely quite recently that we learned that the council was not, after all, going to rebuild Haverfordwest Library. Is there any news as to which preferred site the council has identified?
Whatever the timing, Haverfordwest Library is closed, and temporary accommodation has been utilised in the ‘Community Learning Centre’ round the back. Does this mean that the TIC is going to be round the back of where the library used to be?
The council has made available a questionnaire to users of the TICs, apparently in September, seeking the views of visitors, most of whom went home by the end of August. Of course, the questionnaire is also for residents/business.
Those answering are asked to indicate ‘How frequently you have used it? And ‘tell us what you have used it for?
These questions seem angled to ask whether anyone really needs a Tourist Information Centre, rather than to establish where one should be located.
The Tourist Information Centre that I remember most fondly in Haverfordwest was on the High Street.
Plans for anything else will be yet another mistake in an unhappy sequence of decisions which have led, cumulatively, to the decline of our town.
