WELL done to all those who turned out on Sunday, January 25, marching through Haverfordwest to Withybush Hospital.

Regrettably there will be many thousands who did not attend sincerely believing the ‘die has already been cast’ and our political masters will not change their mindset.

Personally, I came away feeling proud to be a Pembrokeshire man and admiring all who attended but, at the same time, frustrated that our political leaders seem to care little for the plight of our citizens and seem to have lost their sense of pride in our National Health Service.

So, perhaps now is the time to start thinking of not supporting the main political parties and perhaps seeking to find some caring person in Pembrokeshire who would start at the next General Election on the promise to safeguard our health service and to halt the demise of Withybush Hospital.

Without such direct action it is not beyond the realm of possibility to see the empty wards at our Withybush Hospital being rented out to some private health company which would charge admission – all in the interests of free enterprise and profit.
