MY WIFE and I are pensioners living on Newgale Hill and overlooking the problems on the A487.

We would like to start a vote of thanks to all the workers who have struggled through to maintain all our services.

We have not been cut off from St Davids, but it has been a funny feeling not being able to drive straight into Haverfordwest. We did try the relief road through Roch Mill once but it was a bit hairraising!

Grateful thanks are due to the local authority workmen who are doing a marvellous job. We cannot expect to have the road open all the time. They have used their resources wisely, struggling though the wind, rain and seawater.

Royal Mail and other delivery companies delivered daily; our newspapers arrived each day; refuse was collected on time and other workers struggled with the conditions. Thank you all!

We offer our condolences to The Duke of Edinburgh and Newsurf who were affected by the flooding and hope they are soon back in business.

Let’s hope we have seen the last of this dreadful, unusual weather.
