I AM ill, what should I do?
Ring the health centre for an appointment, of course.
“We are sorry, but we do not have any vacant appointment slots at present, but can book you in 21 days from now,” is what I am informed.
This is a totally unacceptable situation. When my doctor’s surgery was autonomous I could get in within 48 hours. Why the discrepancy?
It is little wonder that many patients visit hospital A&E departments instead, causing problems there too.
This is not only a problem in my home town. “Bigger is better” certainly doesn’t appear to apply, could someone please explain to me why?
It is very rare that I call on the doctors’ services, so I am disgusted to find such a service in these so called modern centres.
