RE: Pembrokeshire County Council.
THIS is a political problem that requires a political solution.
The council ruling group has organised for Bryn Parry Jones, at full pay, to do no work, which is inappropriate when the authority is so challenged financially.
We have recently been through a pay grading exercise, where some council employees have had a pay reduction, the same people enhanced senior staff pension contributions.
Jamie Adams has got some explaining to do. The prospect of council reorganisation, with Jamie Adams attempting a settlement between two councils, when he apparently can’t sort out his chief executive is eye-watering.
People are incensed at the alleged gross unfairness of reward, perks and arrogance.
There is a sense of hysteria, whipped up through the local media where there is a hate campaign of an enormous scale and a silent chant that says out, out, out.
The real issues are the Cabinet, ie the senior councillors who seem so far to have got off scot-free and the people who have a duty and responsibility for running the council are wholly inept at defusing this situation or accepting their actual responsibility.
It might delay the ultimate solution by removing servants but once they are gone who do you blame next?
