RE: Proposed developments at Velindre Farm, St Nicholas.

NP140311.

I am an agent for 22 holiday cottages, the majority of which are in the St Nicholas and Tregwynt areas and if this development is allowed to go ahead, will have a huge impact on holiday makers staying in these cottages and my livelihood and many others in this area.

A large proportion of holiday guests that stay in these cottages have been coming to the area for many years because they enjoy the clean atmosphere and the lack of traffic, fumes and noise. If this development is passed, there will be increased traffic by large vehicles along country lanes that have ‘blind’ bends and few passing places.

The danger to all users, walkers, cyclists, horse riders etc.

will increase dramatically.

With the increase of slurry spreading comes the threat of flies everywhere as well as the smell. Who will want to sit on the beaches at Aberbach or Abermawr having a picnic or eating al fresco at the cottages? Tourists who come to the area also spend in the towns of Fishguard and Goodwick, country pubs and restaurants will all suffer and an upturn in the economy is greatly needed.

There is also the issue of increased water pollution in the streams and sea should there be any spillage. There is a delicate balance between the flora and insects, amphibians and bird life. Just a few weeks ago walking around the marshland behind Aberbach beach I saw blue tailed damselfly, loads of beautiful demoiselle and good numbers of golden ringed dragonfly, the latter being a speciality of western Britain only, I saw about five and this is a really good count for the county.
